Lately...

Playing around with packaging for my handmade jewellery, I have recently ordered a custom business stamp from Poumi Stamp studio on Etsy and I can't wait for it to arrive!

Me at a friends wedding last saturday. I am now 35 + 5 weeks pregnant. I can't believe how fast time is going by! I can't wait to meet our little girl :)
New 'Happy New Home' Greetings Card design...Soon to be up for sale in my Etsy shop!

New triangle shaped necklaces soon to be for sale! I am just in the process of organising the packaging. I love them! Wooden triangles, my illustrations on top and sealed with varnish with a waxed cotton cord string.

A beautiful feather found whilst out walking with Faran, a Jay feather perhaps?

the second of my new 'New Home' card designs.I might change the background colour on this one though.

My sweetest, loveliest pony pops.He hasn't been ridden in quite some time now due to me being pregnant..I can't wait to get back out with him. At the mo he is enjoying his daily fuss & feed and his long holiday!

One of my favourite of my new triangle necklaces..The red is beautiful and i'm going to have to make one for myself!

Mendips

Walking in the Mendips with the hound.. The wind was up and it definitely blew away the cobwebs! It was so nice to see blue sky too, England has been so grey and rainy lately. For the first time in months I'm starting to feel inspired. I've been stuck in a work/chores/uni/sleep/work/chores/uni/sleep cycle for far too long. I feel like I'm on the home straight for uni now. Only my research project left to do and one mini essay and a few observations...Easy...( Ha)! I'm looking forward to leaving uni behind me for a while... Although I do seem to be someone who loves to do some course or another.Since I left uni almost 7 years ago I have almost completed 4 courses...Maths GCSE re take,  Diploma level 3 in Supporting Education, Diploma level 2 in Horse Care and riding and now my Diploma in Education. I've only had 2 years where I've not been studying since I started school as a little un!

Time for a break and more art time...Although an Art MA has always been tempting ;)

I hope you are all well x

Lately...

Lately..Well for the past 10 months this pony has taken up a huge amount of my time, he has taken me to some really dark, sad places and also made me feel so happy and so proud. He's changed the way I think about horses, and life in general I guess. He's taught me a lot. I don't normally share much about my life on my blog but I would like to share more. So here's the first of many posts about my life and thoughts to mix in with my posts about art and illustration.

I hope your all well out there x

Winged Horses & real horses

Winged horse decorations by Benconservato on Etsy.

I could happily have these flying around my house :)

You know me, these horsey themed Etsy items weren't going to get away with not being on my blog ;-)

How are you all? What have you been up to? Tell me, I miss you all and I miss drawing.

Time is short of late. Work, uni and horses eating up my time. This handsome chap has been taking up a lot of time. Then recently there has been another edition..My aunties Shire horse X has come to live with me as she is moving to Australia..It's good.My horse (below) is a bit of a problem, So it is great to have a steady neddy to ride safely.

Do leave a comment and tell me what you have been up to, I will be back soon with Artwork to share. I'm working on a couple of commissions that I will be able to show you soon.Speak soon!

Photos from today and yesterday

From top to bottom:

Yesterday : A card made by one of the pupils at my school, I bought this at our Christmas market, however I can't bear to part with it so it's framed and hanging it my hall. Isn't is fantastic?

Today: My garden from the bathroom window, it's looking so wintery out there. I rarely get to look at the garden in daylight as I leave home in the dark and return in the dark.

Yesterday: A necklace I bought from the school market, again made by one of the pupils at the school, it's made of felt beads and wooden buttons on silver ribbon.I wore it last night with a grey tshirt and patterned skirt and it worked well, just added the right amount of fun and colour :)

Today: A lay in with Arthur cat, he's so so so cute! However he has taken to hiding under our bed so we think he's outside and then at 3am he's there sat on my head trying to wake me up for food!! Not funny! I guess it's a lesson to us, if we got round to clearing out all the surf boards etc that are under the bed he wouldn't be able to hide so well!!

I hope your all having a good weekend, I'm getting my head down to some university work and lesson planning now, not the best way to spend a sunday but it needs to be done.

Speak soon :)

PS: I recently finished some christmas cards for  a client and will be able to show you soon, watch this space x

Valentines cards in my shop!

I have made up some cards using my 'Budgies in love' design and my 'Roses' design that are now available in my shop as handmade greetings cards.

They come on white card with white envelopes and packaged in a cellophane sleeve.
Perfect for valentines, anniversaries, birthdays or just as a note card. My grandma got the Roses card for her birthday and she loved it :-)

These cards are £2 each and available from my Etsy shop.

So now the shop talk is aside how are you all? My January is going really fast, how about yours? I don't feel like I've even got my head round the fact that we are in a new year yet..! There is a lot to get my head around and lots to look forward to this year.

I took some photographs this morning around the house, it's had a few nice additions thanks to my nan who treated us to some new coat hooks and a lamp shade (thanks nan). They were from Urban outfitters and I had my eye on a fabric lampshade for a while. Mind you it does block a lot of the light out, the living room is sort of like a cosy cave at the moment!

Ooops all my photos won't play nice today, they are refusing to stick to the center, tsk tsk!Anyhoo have a good evening folks. I'm going to watch the second part of the new Sherlock Holmes series on Channel 1 at 9pm, anyone been watching it? The first was pretty good!

Take care guys speak soon x

A belated happy new year!

A belated happy new year to you! I hope 2012 is treating you well. So far my January has been crazy busy. I'm back at work at the school and it's nice to be back, some of you will know that I work at a school as a Pottery workshop leader with special needs children. This term I have some really hard working students who have already made 4 coil pots in the past week, it's amazing to watch! I'm looking forward to seeing the other projects I have on paper come to life. Apart from school work I have a lot on with my part time courses, I'm doing a level 3 diploma in teaching and learning and a level 2 diploma in horse care and riding. The next few weeks are going to be hectic but I will get some new designs together soon. I'm really looking forward to finishing my part time courses in July 2012 so that I have more time for art and making. I guess you could say that's my new years resolution, to finish my courses..Oh and to travel to a new country for a few weeks. I'm considering Slovenia in the summer..

How about you all? Any new years resolutions or goals?

I got given a book on origami birds for Christmas, I can now make a penguin, swan, water bird and a crane! My favorite is definitely the swan though which is pictured. The last bird in the book in a peacock and it looks really difficult. I'm going to work up to it! Arthur isn't very sure of them. A second after the below picture was taken he swiped at it and I had to rescue a soggy origami bird from his clutches! Right I'm going to crack on with some coursework, have a good evening people!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! x

PS: Hello to my new blog readers, I can't believe there's a 100 of you now, blimey! I think this calls for an art giveaway soon to celebrate :-)

The Old Bookshop

I visited a new Bristol venue today called the Old Bookshop. It is situated on North Street in Bedminster and is the best venue I've been too in a while. The food was great (I had a jerk pork roast dinner and Ben had the roast beef mmmmm). The atmosphere was lovely and chilled, the decor was amazing!! They had bunting, amazing collections of tea pots and china, typewriters mounted on the walls, and a chandelier made out of old trumpets! So much thought had gone into how it was put together. I will be going back very soon and taking friends with me. They have a website with gig listings etc www.theoldbookshop.co.uk you will also see better pics than the ones I have taken! Apologies they were taken on a phone :-/ After the oldbookshop we left and went to a vintage/retro market and I got myself a luvverly bright pink mohair scarf for a fiver! Bargain! Its huge and snuggly! Now i need to figure out how to wash it, mohair will just felt in the wash right? I think I need to hit google for some answers! I hope you have all had great sundays?

Some lately photos

Some photos taken lately at work, top to bottom: On a walk with a student in the gardens/Christmas decorations being made in the Pottery by the students / A pear tree, autumn style/ The elderly dairy cow that now lives in the field in front of the Pottery workshop, it's nice to watch her chilling out in the field but sad that shes so old and now separated from the others/ The top of the tepee which is sometimes used as an outdoor classroom.

So this is where I work. Its pretty amazing and beats an office, if you don't mind mud and wearing layers of woolly jumpers in winter!

Have a great weekend all, hope to be back soon with some new drawings! I'm in serious preparation mode for the Xmas markets coming up and have tons to do.

Bye for now! :-)
