26/7/2011 - A cloudy day

I love these images, I really would quite like them on my walls, they are by the photographer Irene Suchocki. She has an Etsy shop that you can visit here.

My day consists on sanding and painting floor boards :-) Its looking good though.  Oh and my weaving keeps going a bit wrong, I keep pulling it too tight and it ends up in a funny triangle shape!!! I will keep trying. I'm on take 3 now, but it's okay. I'm learning!

Have a good day everyone!

25th July - Summer holiday begins!

Wow the summer hols are finally here! Which is good as I could sleep for a week, but not now, now

I am catching up on my to do list, listening to 6 music and enjoying tea in the garden :-)

I got an email the other day from Cora Beth Finney of the Etsy shop Cora Kids. A while back Cora purchased my singer sewing machine print in peach and she was thoughtful enough to send me a photo of my print in her lovely studio space (See above)...
Its so great to see where my work ends up! Thanks Cora :-)

Cora makes the cutest aprons for kids, take a peek at her shop here. I love these two designs!

Okay enjoy your monday, speak soon!

15/7/2011

I brought the big loom home, so much fun, 2 long evenings spent sat in front of it. However I wasn't paying attention and was pulling the weft too tight..Now I have a very wobbly piece of weaving on my loom..I'm unsure what to do..Keep it as it is maybe? I won't make the same mistake again, and it does have a certain charm to it.

On the other hand its wobbly ways are bothering me. I may have to take it apart. Am I too much of a perfectionist??? I'll sleep on it and let you know :-/

*Sigh*

I hope all is well out there, I'm well just very busy with work at the school, one week left of term I can hardly believe it!

This will make you smile

Beautiful video by Laura Jacquemond of Blue Teracotta. Watch the metamorphosis of Blue Terracotta's fabric butterflies.

I was a fan of Laura's work before. Now I'm in love with it! Simply beautiful.

July 9th - A Saturday

Good morning! I wanted to show you these photographs taken in the grounds of the school where I work, the flowers are incredible at the moment. I took these after it had been raining heavy all night but for that morning the sun was shining beautifully. All is still quite quiet on the art front here and will be for a few weeks. I brought the BIG loom home though which I need to learn how to thread before I can do any weaving. Terribly exciting though...What will be my first project?! Maybe a pillow case..I'm still thinking on that one and i'll show you photos soon!

Are you based in London? The lovely Siobhan of the Hello Flower blog is starting a London based craft club. Go see.

Also I found this tutorial for dyeing plain glass jars which looks like great fun, I'd love a shelf just dedicated to colored glass jars! The tutorial is over at the Craftberry bush blog.

This weekend

This weekend...Good food before we headed off to St Pauls carnival in Bristol.. Our wood collection is growing ready for the arrival of our log burner for the winter..I borrowed this brilliant book from the 70's about weaving and spinning and I am enjoying experimenting with the little loom...Arthur being cute..(!) Check out this mural we came across on the side of a house in St Pauls, I think its amazing! Finally here is Ben and I at the end of a long day at the carnival. I hope you have all had great weekends too?

Bye for now and enjoy the new week!
