Super sweet

So I've just got in from work, just finished a cup of tea , still have the raging headache I've had all day (argh)! BUT I feel very happy, the kids in the flat downstairs are going crazy with their keyboards and even though it's not helping my head it sounds happy and is helping my mood! I've just read this Etsy open tour studio article which has made me soooo want to be a full time artist some day *cross my fingers and my toes and wish wish wish* hehe..... ! And  I have just been included in this great treasury by SLCSLC titled 'HOT list'..... I love this treasury! You can view it here.

Groovy. Right I'm going to try to get something in for this weeks Illustration Friday topic..I have a plan..! Speak soon :-)

New listings in my Etsy shop

Remember this Diamond Bird print and my Mr Pigeon print? They are now up in my Etsy shop! I am rather smitten with the Mr Pigeon print..This colourful print is just what I need right now, yay for colour!

I have a thing about doorways...

Thinking about Inspiration -  I remembered that I took a lot of photographs of doorways whilst on holiday last summer in Crete..These doorways look particularly run down / not in use, I really like the size and the grand details of the metal work/ wood work of these doors. However I have a 'thing' for doors in general, except maybe the new plastic ones! ;-) There is something exciting and interesting about doorways, boarders, transitional spaces....
There are lots of other photographs of inspiring things that I took with the intention of showing you but it seems I didn't get round to it (oops)! So I'm going to do that over the next few days.

Life in the fish bowl class 2

As part of this weeks class Marissa has asked us to think about what qualities describe our work and ourselves, she also asked us to think about what inspires us and to jot this down as a list and then also to start creating a vision board. I have been meaning to keep an up to date vision board for a long time but its just something I never get round too, and I'm starting to think it really should be something I give more time to as I think it will help me to focus on my work. I wanted to record my progress with the tasks on the course here on my blog, I always appreciate comments and also it will help me when I look back to this e-course  and also when I am thinking about the direction of my work.

Qualities that I think represent me and my work:

Honest,passionate,colorful,lively,kind,friendly,dark,sad,happy,serious,silly,thoughtful,dream like,traditional,adventurous,shy,quiet,optimistic..

Hmmmm quiet a few contrasting words there!!

Inspiration

nature, people, animals, HORSE, wolf, rabbit, bear, bird, folk art, folk lore, fables, fairy tales, traditions, superstitions, weather, mountains, the sea, the moors, wild, crafts, camping, outdoor living, dens, NESTS, burrows, shelters, remote drelict buildings, primitive cultures, religions, FAITH , love, DREAMS, night mares, natural materials, wood, metal, leather, wool, fur, bright colours(neon brights), pale shades, deep indigo and vibrant red, simple shapes and lines, child art, outsider art, DAWN, dusk, STARS, the moon, shadows, human animal relationships, the hunter and the hunted, sibling relationships, FEATHERS, old farm outbuildings.....

And here are some images that would be on my inspiration (vision) board, I'm going to get started on my vision board and make it a regular practice this week..

Misty mornings

Misty mornings, we have had quite a lot of them lately. I do find them beautiful in a way but I am also really feeling the need for light and colour. However instead of getting to bogged down by it all I am trying to appreciate the beauty of these days... These photographs were taken when staying with my boyfriends family on the Devon/Cornwall boarder.

Monday news..

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you are all well on this monday evening? I have been a busy bee and wanted to fill you in on some news...First I wanted to tell you about an e-course I have started this past thursday run by Marissa of the blog Creative Thursday and also the  website Creative Thursday.

The e-course is called 'Life in the fish bowl' and you can read more about it here. So I am super duper excited to be starting this course I am hoping it will help me to be much more focused on my art work and where I want it to go.

'In the fish bowl', info here

I also wanted to show you the photographs of the two paintings I completed over the Christmas holidays, the first one is based on a story that I had running round my head (is there a story where this happens or did I just make this up? Please let me know)..a story about the moon who was so sad and crying so hard that one day he just fell from the sky.... The girl and the horses rushed to help him and so here they all are in the picture...and I'm not sure how it ends but that was what was running around my head ...

The second painting is of a man in a wood with a fox running around in the background..I think he's a wood cutter or a ground keeper or something...He looks friendly and I like this painting :-)

Anyhoo that's all for now! :-)

Circus Horses

You know how it is, the new year sometimes gets you thinking about the direction of your life.... I started to think about what I wanted to be when I was a child. The first thing I wanted to do was to was to be in the circus, and ride circus horses...I remember quite sensibly thinking that it would be quite hard to get that job as I didn't have my own pony to practice on. So I figured maybe being a tightrope walker would be my way in... I could practice at home right?!! Sadly I never did make it to the circus and my job choices got more and more sensible as I got older..

1) Riding horses in the circus
2) Riding horses as an event rider
3) Groom/riding instructor
4) Vet
5) Art therapist

So I did an Art degree and now I'm on my way to deciding on something..... But for now I want to think about circus horses, much more magical and fun!

Happy Sunday all! :-)
