Pet Portrait, Luke the Saluki

I have done a fair few pet portraits lately, unfortunately I can't share them until after Christmas as many of them are presents! However this is one I completed a couple of months ago of Luke the Saluki. Such a handsome dog who is sadly no longer with us. However very much loved and remembered by his family.

Pet Portraits, Tao the Haflinger Horse

Tao is owned by a lady called Lucy, Tao was very fun to draw :)  If you have never met a Haflinger horse you really are missing out. They are Austrian Mountain ponies. Chunky little horses with golden coats and white manes and tails and TONS of attitude!! I am lucky enough to own my own little golden pony. The lovely Viking... Here he is showing his next door neighbors just how much attitude he has :)  I'm looking forward to starting my next pet portrait. I have a hedgehog, another pony and some bunnies to get started on. Wonderful!

Pet Portraits, Budgies!

I want to start offering custom pet portraits on Etsy, I need to expand my pet portrait portfolio so have offered to do some freebie portraits to get going with this. Yesterday I completed this custom Budgie portrait for a friend. This pair are just so sweet! I love the print so much I have framed it and hung it in my hallway to look at for a while :)

I look forward to my next pet portraits, I have been asked to draw a snake, a lizard and some tortoises among other things!! I thought it would all be dogs and cats! Haha!

Finding the sunshine

Its raining outside and the sky is grey! I'm finding lots of sunshine inside today though.
I received these gorgeous flowers from my soon to be mother in law..The wedding date is getting closer..Eek!

In other news I have just finished a commission for a client of mine, it's for an upcoming event so I will share when I can.

Today's Summer Fair

Today I had an Art stall at my school's Summer Fair, it has been way too long since my last stall!  I really enjoyed today.It felt like a nice reintroduction to the world of art markets. I have lots of new ideas and am excited about the next fair :)

Sunday, thoughts..

Hi all :) It's sunday morning. I'm sat on the sofa with the dog by my side (he is huge now, I almost did my back in carrying him up the stairs yesterday so I could bath him). I won't be doing that again! I wasn't doing it for fun by the way, when he knows it's bath time (and believe me he knows) he refuses to go up the stairs by himself until he is caught and carried..Then he tolerates his baths and is fine! Funny thing. Anyway yes so it is sunday and the sky is very grey. I feel like staying on the sofa all day and drawing...... Maybe eating raw chocolate cake and drinking lots of Barley cup drinks. Mmmmm.. I have ditched coffee/caffeine and am managing ok on the healthy substitutes such as Redbush tea and Barley Cup.It's going ok and I definitely feel more alert in the afternoons :)

So what I wanted to ask you all about today is workspaces.Where do you work when your at home? My workspace really needs to change. I have finally given in to the fact that my OH needs the spare room for his business. The room is overflowing with camera equipment, boxes, files, batteries and my art things are drowning in it all.  My OH owns and runs a company called The flying Camera Company, take a look if you have time :)

So I have been looking around the house and I have identified 2 spaces for potential Art work space. One is on the hallway on top of the stairs, currently there is an over flowing cupboard in the space. The other space would be in  our dining room but would mean moving things around. Either way there is a whole lot of charity shopping of clothes/books to do as we just don't have enough space.

I have had a look on the brilliant Pinterest and here are some work spaces that have caught my eye..

A long overdue spruce up of my online shops

 

So as some of you are aware I recently joined the fantastic Not on The High Street. My shop isn't live yet, everything is 'under review' I am waiting for the comments for changes or the OK from the people at NOTHS before it can go live. In the mean time I have given my Etsy shop a long overdue spruce.I have also just started to upload products to my Folksy shop again..So if you use Folksy or Etsy please do visit my shops :)

Here tis, inspired by a flock of Bluetits I have seen in my garden this week. It's quite a treat for me to see birds in the garden.I am on hols from work this week and so have actually seen my garden in daylight for the first time in months.Usually I am up way before the birds!

I heard this song today, it's one I used to know off by heart but  I haven't heard it in years. Then today it came on the radio and now I can't stop singing it, I love the lyrics so much. If you haven't heard it before then take a moment to listen,,

Mendips

Walking in the Mendips with the hound.. The wind was up and it definitely blew away the cobwebs! It was so nice to see blue sky too, England has been so grey and rainy lately. For the first time in months I'm starting to feel inspired. I've been stuck in a work/chores/uni/sleep/work/chores/uni/sleep cycle for far too long. I feel like I'm on the home straight for uni now. Only my research project left to do and one mini essay and a few observations...Easy...( Ha)! I'm looking forward to leaving uni behind me for a while... Although I do seem to be someone who loves to do some course or another.Since I left uni almost 7 years ago I have almost completed 4 courses...Maths GCSE re take,  Diploma level 3 in Supporting Education, Diploma level 2 in Horse Care and riding and now my Diploma in Education. I've only had 2 years where I've not been studying since I started school as a little un!

Time for a break and more art time...Although an Art MA has always been tempting ;)
